About Us

In 1918, Roberto and Ysabel Sanchez left Nayarit, Mexico, and settled in San Francisco. The couple opened their first business in 1924, a Mexicatessen on Broadway St in San Francisco. From this store, the Sanchez businesses grew to a tortilleria, night clubs, and restaurants (including the iconic Casa Sanchez Mexicatesen in San Francisco’s Mission District, now a protected historical landmark). Robert Sanchez, grandson of Roberto, took over the business in 1975. Under his leadership, Casa Sanchez Foods transitioned to chips and salsa production, focusing on bringing the freshest possible ingredients to every customer who tastes our products. Today, we remain committed to providing our customers with the tastiest, freshest chips and salsas.

About Me
Ysabel Sanchez was a founding figure in the family business that later became Casa Sanchez Foods. According to the official website of Casa Sanchez Foods, she immigrated from Nayarit, Mexico to San Francisco, California in 1918 with her husband, Roberto Sanchez. In 1924, the couple opened a small Mexicatessen on Broadway Street, introducing traditional Mexican foods to the local community. This family-run shop laid the foundation for a growing enterprise that expanded into restaurants, tortilla production, and eventually the well-known Casa Sanchez Foods brand. Her early entrepreneurial efforts and dedication helped establish a multi-generation family food company that continues operating today, preserving authentic Mexican culinary traditions and family heritage.
